We have a basic copper fire pit – just a bowl on a stand with a mesh cover. We can never get a decent fire going. Usually we put some kindling (w/crumpled paper underneath) and the logs on top of that. The wood is dry but all we get is smoke. Any suggestions?
it needs to get some air from the bowl.
Sounds like it should be burning properly…try splitting the logs a bit smaller and make sure you place the wood bark side down (round side down)…you don’t say if it is split wood or not…I would guess it is..just try bark side down and one log does not make a fire.
